CACI Facial vs Neurotris: Why I Chose Dynamic Microcurrent

If you have been searching for a CACI facial, you are probably looking for a professional microcurrent treatment that can tone the skin, refresh your facial contours and give you a healthier-looking glow without needles or downtime.

CACI is one of the UK’s best-known microcurrent brands, so it is often the first name people discover. However, CACI is not the only professional microcurrent system available.

At my skin studio in Fleet, I use the Neurotris SX3800 Dynamic Microcurrent System. Neurotris and CACI both use low-level electrical currents as part of a professional facial, but the technologies are not identical. Is Neurotris the New CACI?

Neurotris is a professional alternative to CACI that uses Dynamic Intelligent Microcurrent. Its biofeedback system monitors electrical resistance and adjusts the current during treatment. For me, this makes Neurotris particularly well-suited to customised facial toning, sculpting, and skin-focused treatments.

CACI helped to make professional microcurrent widely recognised in the UK. Neurotris takes a different technological approach, using a feedback loop designed to respond to variations in skin impedance while the treatment is taking place.

I would not describe CACI as a poor treatment. It is a highly established brand with a range of professional systems. However, having explored the options available to me, I believe Neurotris is a better fit for how I want to care for my clients’ skin.

The difference is not simply the name on the machine. It is the way the current is delivered, the selection of treatment tools available and the level of control I have when planning each appointment.

What Is a CACI Facial?

CACI stands for Computer Aided Cosmetology Instrument. The British brand has been part of the professional beauty industry since 1992 and has become closely associated with facial microcurrent treatments.

A CACI facial uses very low-level electrical currents, delivered through probes or other attachments, to temporarily tone and tighten the skin and improve the appearance of facial contours. Different CACI systems provide different functions.

Some of the more advanced CACI machines, including the Synergy and Synergy Flex systems, combine microcurrent with LED light through CACI’s S.P.E.D. technology. Other available functions can include ultrasonic cleansing, orbital microdermabrasion, hydrating rollers and attachments for targeting the jawline or eye area.

This means it is important not to assume that every clinic advertising a CACI treatment has the same machine or provides the same facial. The equipment, attachments, treatment length and practitioner’s approach can all vary.

CACI’s newer Synergy Flex platform is also described by the brand as customisable. It would therefore be inaccurate to say that every CACI treatment follows one rigid or identical protocol. The more useful question is whether the particular treatment being offered is being properly adapted to your skin, facial structure and goals.

What Is a Neurotris Microcurrent Facial?

Neurotris—pronounced “New-ro-triss”—is an American professional microcurrent brand that has more recently become available in the UK.

The technology attracted the attention of UK skin specialist Zoe Threadgold after 40 years of working with other professional microcurrent systems. Having experienced the difference in Neurotris’s method of current delivery, Zoe helped introduce the brand to the UK, giving therapists and their clients another professional microcurrent option.

The defining feature of Neurotris is its Dynamic Intelligent Microcurrent technology.

Rather than relying solely on a fixed output, Neurotris systems incorporate a biofeedback monitoring loop. This patented feature really matters because of the skin’s natural resistance- or impedance to microcurrent. Skin density, electrolyte levels, hydration levels, stress and circadian rhythm all influence the skin’s impedance, which is unique to each skin and can fluctuate daily. Neurotris’s dynamic intelligent delivery takes care of this, ensuring optimal signature current delivery and effective treatment every time for each client.

The Neurotris SX3800 that I use has four independent output channels and a biofeedback computer that continuously monitors impedance. Its four-pronged Pico Probes allow those separate channels to work across the treatment area while I perform controlled gliding, sculpting and lifting movements. Because the Pico Probes uniquely allow microcurrent delivery to the skin along the full length of each probe, the surface area covered is large; for example, the microcurrent can be distributed to the whole jawline, cheek area, or brow and forehead, whilst delivery remains comfortable.

This is not a laboratory head-to-head comparison, and it should not be interpreted as saying that every Neurotris treatment will produce a better result than every CACI treatment.

The device is only one part of a successful facial. The practitioner’s knowledge, consultation, treatment choices, technique, homecare guidance and understanding of the client’s skin are equally important.

Why I Chose Neurotris Instead of CACI

1. The Current Responds During the Treatment

The real-time biofeedback system was one of the main reasons I chose Neurotris.

Skin naturally resists electrical current. That resistance can vary between clients, between different areas of the face and even between separate appointments for the same client.

The Neurotris monitoring loop is designed to assess that impedance and adjust the microcurrent delivery as I work. It does not replace my judgement as a practitioner, but it gives me an additional level of technological feedback.

For me, this is preferable to assuming that the same output will be equally suitable every time.

No single attachment is right for every treatment or every part of the face.

I do not believe clients should have to select an off-the-shelf facial and hope that it happens to be right for them.

One client may be most concerned about the appearance of her jawline. Another may want to focus on the eye area. Neurotris sessions have also been helpful for all of my rosacea clients, helping to stabilise their reactive skin so they enjoy clearer, calmer skin.

A client’s appearance is influenced by much more than muscle tone. Skin barrier health, hydration, inflammation, UV exposure, nutrition, sleep, stress, movement and home skincare all play a part.

Is Neurotris Better Than CACI?

There is not an honest one-word answer that applies to every client, clinic and practitioner.

CACI is a respected and established professional brand. Its current systems provide a variety of technologies, and a knowledgeable CACI practitioner may deliver a highly customised treatment.

However, Neurotris is the better system for my particular way of working.

I chose it because I value:

• Its real-time impedance monitoring
• Dynamic adjustment of the current
• Four independent channels on the SX3800
• The range of treatment tools
• The control it gives me over treatment design
• Its suitability for a bespoke, holistic facial

I also believe that practitioner skill should remain central. A sophisticated machine does not replace a proper consultation, careful observation or an understanding of skin health.

Neurotris gives me advanced tools, but it is how I use those tools around the individual client that turns the technology into a meaningful treatment.

Does a CACI Facial Work?

A CACI facial can temporarily tone and tighten the skin, and many clients enjoy the resulting fresher, more toned appearance. The treatment experience is also generally described as comfortable and relaxing.

However, it is important to have realistic expectations.

Current UK advertising guidance accepts that electrical-current facial devices can temporarily tone and tighten the skin. It advises against presenting these treatments as equivalent to cosmetic surgery or suggesting that they create permanent structural changes.

The phrase “non-surgical facelift” is widely used within the beauty industry and has long been associated with CACI. However, neither a CACI treatment nor a Neurotris facial is the same as having facelift surgery. Microcurrent cannot remove substantial excess skin or permanently reverse the natural ageing process.

The same honesty applies to Neurotris. It is an advanced professional microcurrent system that works with your skin physiology to produce natural-looking skin enhancement. These are the typical effects that I see for my clients:

• Temporarily improved skin tone
• A more refreshed appearance
• Better-looking facial definition
• A temporarily firmer or tighter feeling

The Results Are Not Permanent

The temporarily toned appearance will gradually diminish, particularly if treatment is discontinued.

Maintenance appointments normally follow a course. This requires an ongoing commitment of both time and money.

One Treatment May Not Be Enough

A single appointment can be a lovely choice before an event, especially when the aim is to look refreshed.

However, one facial should not be expected to deliver the same outcome as a structured course. Microcurrent results are generally cumulative, so a series of treatments is more appropriate when the goal is to improve and maintain facial tone.

Results Vary Between Individuals

As with any facial treatment, age, skin condition, facial structure, muscle tone, health, lifestyle and consistency all influence the outcome.

A responsible practitioner should not guarantee that every client will achieve the same result.

The CACI Experience Can Vary Between Clinics

CACI has produced a number of systems over the years. The technologies and attachments available can therefore vary according to the particular device used by the clinic.

The practitioner’s treatment style and experience will also make a difference. Before booking, ask which CACI system is used and what the proposed facial actually includes.

Microcurrent Is Not Suitable for Everyone

There are health conditions and circumstances in which electrical-current treatments may not be suitable. A proper consultation is essential.

You should tell your practitioner about pregnancy, epilepsy, implanted electrical devices, cancer treatment, recent surgery, diagnosed health conditions and any medication you take. Medical advice or clearance may be required before treatment.

CACI Jowl Lift vs Neurotris for the Jawline

The CACI jowl lift is a popular search because changes around the lower face are one of the main reasons people consider microcurrent.

Jowls do not develop for one single reason. Changes in skin elasticity, facial fat, connective tissue, bone structure and muscle tone can all affect the appearance of the jawline as we age.

Microcurrent cannot remove excess skin or replace lost facial volume. What it may do is temporarily improve the appearance of tone and definition around the lower face.

CACI offers specialist probes designed to target the jaw area. With Neurotris, I can use Pico Probes, Infinity Probes, Silver Gloves and lifting techniques around the:

What Happens During a Neurotris Treatment with Me?

Consultation and Assessment

Your first appointment begins with a consultation. I want to understand your skin, health, current routine, treatment history and what you hope to achieve.

I will also explain what microcurrent can and cannot realistically do. If you are not suitable for treatment, or if another approach would be more appropriate, I will tell you.

Cleansing and Skin Preparation

I gently cleanse the skin to remove makeup, skincare and surface impurities.

Where appropriate, I may use a gentle Dermaviduals enzyme treatment to loosen superficial dead skin cells while respecting the skin barrier.

Bespoke Microcurrent

I select the Neurotris programmes and tools according to your skin and facial contours.

The treatment will usually include the face and neck and may include focused work around the eyes, lips, cheeks or jawline. The Neurotris biofeedback system monitors impedance while I work and adjusts the current delivery.

Lifting and Sculpting Techniques

I use controlled movements with the probes, gloves or other applicators to temporarily tone and tighten the skin and improve the appearance of facial definition.

Clients often describe this stage as relaxing. Some areas may produce a light tingling or metallic sensation, but the treatment should not be painful.

How Many Neurotris Treatments Will I Need?

A single Neurotris facial can be booked as a pre-event or “red carpet” treatment when you want your skin to look particularly fresh.

For cumulative results, I normally recommend a course. A typical Neurotris course with me involves six to ten treatments, depending on the client’s skin, facial tone and goals.

After completing a course, a maintenance treatment approximately every four to six weeks may be recommended.

Microcurrent results are not permanent, and the ideal schedule is different for each person. I will explain the likely commitment and cost before asking you to begin a treatment plan.

How Do I Choose Between a CACI Facial and Neurotris?

Do not make your decision solely according to which brand name you recognise.

Ask the clinic or practitioner:

• Which exact microcurrent system do you use?
• What technology and attachments are included?
• Will I receive a consultation first?
• How will the facial be adapted to my skin?
• What training and experience does the practitioner have?
• What results are realistic for my concern?
• How many sessions are likely to be needed?
• What will the complete course cost?
• Will I need maintenance treatments?

A professional treatment should involve more than placing a well-known machine in the room. The person operating it should be able to explain why they are selecting each part of your facial.

Why Neurotris Is My Preferred CACI Alternative
